Job description:

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our team in Honolulu. This role is ideal for a driven tax professional with strong technical expertise, proven leadership abilities, and a client-focused approach. The Tax Manager will oversee complex tax engagements, provide technical guidance, mentor staff, and ensure the accurate and timely delivery of client services.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct technical reviews and approvals of complex tax returns and governmental tax examinations.
• Take full responsibility for large and complex client engagements while delegating tasks to preparers as appropriate.
• Demonstrate advanced technical proficiency in providing client tax advisory services.
• Ensure all client engagements are completed efficiently, accurately, and within budgeted timelines.
• Delegate and manage tax research projects to produce precise and timely results.
• Represent clients before governmental taxing authorities when required.
• Maintain familiarity with staff qualifications, reviewing assignments to ensure appropriate task allocation.
• Supervise and coach tax staff, providing on-the-job training and mentorship.
• Oversee the development and performance evaluations of Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-Seniors, and Staff Accountants.
• Support departmental growth through effective staff development and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• 57 years experience in public accounting with increasing complexity in tax engagements.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience directing the work of tax preparers.
• Bachelors degree in Accounting required; Masters in Taxation preferred.
• Active CPA license required.
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. tax compliance and research.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client service skills.
