Job description:
The Design Engineer is a managerial level position. This person will be working under a Design Manager and makes decisions with broad influence on the design activities of assigned projects for the Design Team. The Design Engineer demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgement in planning, organizing, designing, and detailing the specific design aspects of assigned projects for the Design Teams. The Design Engineer is a key member of the Project Design Team and is responsible for seamlessly integrating the structural design function into the overall project design.General Characteristics
Has a thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering for the structural discipline and how to coordinate with other disciplines for project coordination.
Has broad knowledge and skills in design.
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks for conventional projects with medium to complex features.
Collaboratively uses judgement to determine adaptation in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments.
Coordinates work on projects having medium to high-level complexity and scope.
Qualifications:
Education Required: BS or MS in Engineering with licensure as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee and additional States as requested.
Experience Required:
- Registration as a Professional Engineer who will be responsible charge for specific Engineering Discipline on Design Projects.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in structural design related to Building Construction.
- Understanding of AutoCAD and Revit. The ability to draft is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of design fundamentals and practices.
- Knowledge of Construction Industry and Engineering Principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer proficient with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
