Job description:
We're seeking a passionate, hands-on Principal Engineer, Packaging Equipment to join our team at a leading Fortune 500 Food manufacturer. In this pivotal role, reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will provide packaging equipment technical leadership to identify and develop strategies and projects that deliver the highest business value to manufacturing plants.
LOCATION OPTIONS: East if Denver, CO. For example: Chicago, IL, Indianapolis, IN, Lincoln, NE, Kanas City, MO, Nashville, TN.
COMPENSATION: $120,000 to $160,000 + 15% bonus opportunity + 9% 401K match!
Responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership and Governance
- Key Strategies: Create and manage important plans and policies for manufacturing.
- Feasibility Analysis: Evaluate if new packaging ideas are practical and cost-effective.
2. Automation and Technology Expertise
- Automation Development: Develop systems that reduce labor and save costs.
- Technology Assessment: Evaluate and recommend new packaging technologies.
3. Project Development and Management
- FEL Packages: Prepare detailed initial project plans.
- Control Descriptions: Write detailed instructions for how systems and operations should work.
- Review Packages: Check the initial plans to make sure they are correct and effective.
4. Continuous Improvement and Troubleshooting
- Machine Design Improvements: Lead efforts to improve machinery and make modifications.
- Troubleshooting: Fix and improve current packaging operations.
- Alternatives and Risks: Identify other options, requirements, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or Packaging Engineering.
- 9+ years experience with packaging system design.
- Ideally seeking 10+ years of Food Manufacturing experience. Alternatively, 5 years of Food manufacturing experience, and 5 years of Beverage/Consumer Packaged Goods/Pharmaceutical experience.
- Subject matter expertise (SME) in food production line packaging equipment.
- Experience in USDA/FDA manufacturing environments.
- Packaging Machine design expertise.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing automation/robotic solutions.
- Experience leading teams.
- Ability to translate project requirements into technical solutions.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement in engineering design
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time (domestic travel mostly Midwest).
